The name "Ommaega" is a portmanteau, a made-up word coined from a combination of three words:

"Om", the sound of the universe,

"Mae", the Founder's name, and

"Ga", extracted from the word "Gaia" which represents Mother Earth 

What started out as an interest to practice yoga outdoors in 2019 turned into something beyond what we planned. The topics of mental health, climate change and environmental sustainability are not new, but it fuelled conversations when the world finally exhaled in 2020 during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic - flights stopped and carbon emissions reduced dramatically, malls and entertainment closed, and individuals started going outdoors more often than ever before to cope with changing circumstances.

 

We saw the need for human beings to go back to their roots and reconnect with nature, the source of energy to sustain all life forms on Earth. But why did it take a global pandemic to bring the world to her knees before conversations surrounding mental health and environmental sustainability erupted?

Undeterred by the straining circumstances which ensued from the pandemic, we continued impressing upon everyone around us that the health of an individual is intimately intertwined with the health of the planet. There is a pressing need to reconnect and embrace the phenomenal healing power of nature.

Through our outdoor yoga classes along beautiful beaches and lush greenery in our Singapore parks, we provide experiences to cultivate mindfulness. We believe the medicine we need for mental health is Vitamin G(reenspace), and the fight against climate change starts from within, by first being mindful of all the wonderful goodness Mother Earth offers us.

 

Beyond outdoor yoga, we harness the healing power of nature to provide solutions through our environmentally-friendly products. These solutions enable individuals to have a pleasant experience outdoors by removing the barriers commonly faced during an outdoor experience.
